COVID-19 Secure

We are proud to confirm that Lordgate Engineering has carried out a COVID-19 Risk Assessment, and put in place measures to protect our workforce from the threat of Coronavirus. Following a shut down period of 5 weeks, a comprehensive risk assesment has been put together, and actions have been carried out to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 within the facilities. 2m social distancing is adhered to throughout the entire facility and this is sustainable after the reduction in government guidelines (1m+). One way systems, office/work area layout changes, and restrictions on personnel numbers in common areas have been implemented to prevent unnecessary contact. A "COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Protection Handbook" has been produced and provided to all staff as they return from furlough. This provides the entrire workforce with information on how Lordgate is dealing with the pandemic, and what can be expected of both the company, and individuals. Our risk assessment is regularly reviewed for it's relevance, and comprehensiveness; ensuring we have considered...

Safety Critical Welding Certification

Safety Critical Welding; BS EN 15085-2, Class 1 Following a recent audit by TWI, assessing our welding quality management system we are proud to announce that we have successfully been re-issued with continued certification for safety critical welding of railway vehicles in accordance with BS EN 15085-2 at Class 1 level. As part of our assessment we identified that the field of application was not a clear representation of our capabilities and as such this has now been updated to be: "Design and manufacture of components for internal and external application, fabrication and welding of stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminium structures, new build, rebuild and repair, with design." Our welding operations are a core part of Lordgate's business and certification to BS EN 15085-2 provides us the ability to weld components that our competitors cannot. We would like to thank all those involved in the audit, and in the continued maintenance of Lordgate's welding quality management system.  The expertise and effort provided is invaluable...

Furthering the Project Engineering Team

Project Engineering is a crucial part of Lordgate's operations; responsible for making sure production is on track, and for keeping customers informed at all times, our Projects Team is a huge asset to the business. With such an important function of the business it's fantastic when our employees take steps toward improving their knowledge and skill set so we're pleased congratulate Alicja Gumiennik on completing the PRINCE2 Foundation 2009 course. Alicja is currently assisting the Projects Team as a Project Coordinator, helping to monitor and control existing projects, the most demanding of which being a large contract with Hitachi. Following on from the foundation course, Alicja has already started working on the next stage; PRINCE2 Practitioner 2009 which will be a great benefit.  The additional skills and knowledge, combined with growing experience in a working environment will be invaluable. Capacity Increases for the New Year

Capacity increases with the addition of a new CNC Machine Now that 2017 has drawn to a close we find ourselves welcoming not only the new year, but new machinery that will increase our capacity too! Our Machining Section has had a new CNC Milling Machine Centre installed over the Christmas Break which is now up and running. The newly installed Cincinnati Milacron Arrow 750 is currently assisting with increased production demands for one of our larger scale projects. In the future this machine will take on the  smaller project demands in order to reduce changeover requirements, the result will be that larger project demand can be more efficiently planned, and for longer periods of time. We're looking forward to another highly productive 2018, and wish everyone a happy new year!...

ISO 9001:2015 Certified

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for Quality Management Systems.  In 2015 it received a major review and update that has required many businesses to modify their quality management system. Since the 2015 update Lordgate have been working hard, with assistance from BSI to meet the transition requirements.  And following a programme of transition audits we have now been fully certified to BS EN ISO 9001:2015.   What's changed for us? Whilst our core operations haven't changed, we've made improvements across the board and altered the way we think about certain aspects of our business. Planning is a key area that's undergone improvements.  We've adapted our processes to consider an extended range of interested parties when analysing potential risks.  This means we're now looking at a much broader spectrum including supply chain in addition to our customers, employees and relevant regulatory bodies. We are now putting more resource into identifying potential risks in all aspects of the business, especially in the planning stages allowing us to...

Enjoying The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

LordCAKE Engineering Coffee Morning We'd like to give a big thank you to our very own Robyn Seymour who made arrangements for Lordgate to be part of The World's Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday. Robyn put in the time and effort to sign Lordgate up to be part of the national event.  And with Design & Technical Engineer Gavin Gordon providing assistance, the two helped raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. "Fighting to make sure no one has to face cancer alone" The event was a great success with cakes made, and brought by a large portion of employees.  With so many cakes available, the allocated morning time had to be extended to include lunch break as well! In total, the Coffee Morning raised a whopping £265.05.  Money raised will be donated to help further Macmillan's outstanding work providing support for those affected by cancer. Once again, thank you to Robyn and Gavin from all of us here at Lordgate.  We're all looking forward to the next one!         ...
